Plumbing Industry Council Print E-mail

On 1 March 2010, the Plumbers and Drainers Board was replaced with the Plumbing Industry Council. The Plumbing Industry Council operates as an industry body, administered by the Queensland Government, working to protect public health and safety through Queensland's plumbing and drainage licensing system.

The Plumbing Industry Council will continue the important work of the former Plumbers and Drainers Board in investigating complaints about licensees and unlicensed work. Any decision made by the former Plumbers and Drainers Board is taken to be a decision made by the Plumbing Industry Council. Similarly, any legal action commenced or taken by the former Plumbers and Drainers Board will be continued by the Plumbing Industry Council.

Responsibilities

  • investigating complaints relating to licensed and unlicensed work
  • granting plumbing and drainage licences and endorsements on licences
  • investigating alleged breaches by plumbers performing work that does not meet the relevant technical standards or is in breach of their licence
  • disciplining licensees by issuing reprimands, cautions or an infringement notice, imposing conditions on their licence, suspending or cancelling their licence.

Are your plumbing and drainage licensee contact details up-to-date?

An important part of the PIC’s service to you is to help keep you up-to-date on plumbing industry developments, particularly changes to legislation and standards.

The PIC will soon be introducing a new database that will allow us to send you SMS text messages and emails. For this reason it is important to ensure your details are up to date on our current database, so you can benefit from system upgrades.
