The Board for Urban Places has been established to advise the Queensland Government on design aspects of major infrastructure and urban planning projects.

Gold Coast Hospital site

The Gold Coast Hospital in Southport will be moved to the newly constructed Gold Coast University Hospital. Queensland Government and Gold Coast City Council will consult with the community to determine a suitable alternative use for the current Gold Coast Hospital site.

Urban Land Development Authority

The Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning is currently working to identify state planning powers that can be transferred from the Urban Land Development Authority (ULDA) to local governments to better empower them to plan for their communities.

The department is responsible for administering the Urban Land Development Authority Act 2007 which created the Urban Land Development Authority (ULDA).
